What Is eircicai?
eircicai.org is an independent website that explains Indian tax and finance topics in plain, simple English. We write guides on income tax, GST, ITR filing, freelancer taxation, and tax saving — the kind of topics that usually come wrapped in confusing legal language.
We started this site with one simple idea: tax rules affect almost every working person in India, but the information about them is hard to understand. Government websites use technical terms. News articles assume you already know the basics. There was no place where a regular person could read about tax in words they actually understand.
That is the gap we are trying to fill.
Our Mission
Our mission is straightforward: make Indian tax simple for everyone.
We do not think you need a finance degree to understand how much tax you owe, which deductions you can claim, or how to file your return. You just need someone to explain it clearly, with real numbers and practical examples.
Every article we publish follows three rules:
- Simple language. We write the way people talk. Short sentences. No jargon without explanation. If a technical term is unavoidable, we explain it right there.
- Real examples. Instead of saying “deduction under Section 123 is available,” we show you what it means: “If you put Rs 1.5 lakh in PPF, your taxable income drops by Rs 1.5 lakh.”
- Verified facts. Tax section numbers, thresholds, and rates are checked against official sources before we publish. When the law changes, we update our articles.
What We Cover
Our content is organized into five main areas:
Income Tax
Guides on tax slabs, deductions, exemptions, and the new Income Tax Act, 2025. This includes the section-number changes that confused many taxpayers — for example, the old Section 80C is now Section 123. We explain what changed, what stayed the same, and what you actually need to do differently (usually: nothing, except using the new number on forms).
GST
Practical guides on Goods and Services Tax for small businesses, freelancers, and service providers. Registration thresholds, return filing (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B), rates for common services, and what freelancers specifically need to know about GST.
ITR Filing
Step-by-step help with filing your income tax return. Which ITR form to use, what documents you need, common mistakes to avoid, how to check your refund status, and what to do if you missed the deadline.
Freelancer Tax
Tax is especially confusing for freelancers — presumptive taxation under 44ADA (now Section 58), GST on freelance services, handling foreign clients, advance tax for irregular income. We cover all of it with examples from real freelance situations: Upwork income, Fiverr payments, consulting fees.
Tax Saving
Legal ways to reduce your tax bill. Deductions under the old regime, regime comparison (old vs new), investment options like PPF, ELSS, NPS, and year-end tax planning checklists.
Our Approach to Accuracy
Tax information is only useful if it is correct. A wrong section number or an outdated threshold can cost a reader real money. We take this seriously.
Here is how we verify what we publish:
- Official sources first. We check section numbers, rates, and thresholds against incometax.gov.in, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) website, and gst.gov.in. These are the only sources we treat as final.
- Cross-checking. When multiple small websites disagree on a fact (this happens often with the new Income Tax Act, 2025 section numbers), we go back to the official text rather than copying what others wrote.
- Update dates. Every article shows when it was published and when it was last updated. If a budget or notification changes a rule, we update the article and change the date.
- Clear about uncertainty. When something is genuinely unclear — for example, when a new rule has been announced but the detailed notification has not come out yet — we say so instead of guessing.
That said, we are writers and researchers, not your personal tax advisors. Tax law is complex and your situation is unique. Always verify important decisions against official sources or with a qualified Chartered Accountant. Our full disclaimer explains this in detail.
Meet the Team
eircicai is written by a small team of tax content writers. Each writer focuses on specific topics so the content stays deep and accurate:
Rohan Mehta — Income Tax
Rohan writes our income tax guides. He focuses on the Income Tax Act, 2025 transition — the section renumbering, regime comparison, and deduction guides. His articles are known for clear tables and step-by-step breakdowns that make complex rules easy to follow.
Priya Sharma — GST and Business Tax
Priya covers GST for small businesses and service providers. She writes about registration, return filing, rates, and compliance — always with practical examples for business owners who do not have a CA on speed dial.
Amit Verma — Freelancer Tax and ITR Filing
Amit specializes in the topics freelancers struggle with most: presumptive taxation, GST on services, advance tax with irregular income, and ITR filing for non-salaried earners. His guides use real freelance scenarios — platform income, foreign clients, mixed revenue streams.
Neha Iyer — Tax Saving and Deductions
Neha writes about tax saving strategies, deductions, and exemptions. Her articles help readers understand which investments and expenses actually reduce tax, how much they save in real rupees, and which regime (old or new) works better for different income levels.
Our articles go through an internal review before publishing. We are also working on getting a qualified Chartered Accountant to review our technical content.
Important: Who We Are NOT
We want to be completely clear about this:
eircicai.org is NOT affiliated with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the Income Tax Department, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN), or any government body.
We are an independent information website. We do not file returns on your behalf, we do not provide personalized tax advice, and we do not represent any official authority. When we cite official sources, we link to them so you can verify directly.
If you need to file your return, visit the official income tax portal at incometax.gov.in. If you need GST services, visit gst.gov.in.
How We Make Money
We believe in being upfront about this. Running a website costs money — hosting, tools, writer payments, research time. Here is how we plan to keep eircicai running:
- Advertising. We may show ads through programs like Google AdSense. Ads are clearly separate from our articles and do not influence what we write.
Our content recommendations — which deduction to claim, which regime to pick — are based on the math, not on who pays us. That will not change.
